Fox News TV Anchors’ Surprising Poor Knowledge

I always find it amazing how dumb some people in the media appear to be. You would think to be able to achieve a position as a TV co-anchor on a major city (the 5th largest city in the U.S.) TV News channel that person would require better than average general intelligence plus more than average knowledge of current events and recent world history.
Was watching Fox News (Channel 10) and the three news anchors were discussing nuclear weapons and guessing which nations have the most nuclear bombs since North Korea and their long-range missile testing was in the news this week. The two obvious answers of course are either the U.S. or Russia, with China probably 3rd on the short list. However, news desk co-anchor Alexis DelChiaro volunteered in her opinion it was North Korea who had the most. How unknowledgable can Alexis be!
How stupid is that answer from a Fox News co-anchor? How did Alexis manage to get that excellent job in the first place? So many smart people are unemployed due to the economy but “Alexis DelChiaro” is somehow a Fox news anchor. She must have impressed someone a lot during the interview. Look at her incredible good looks in the photo below to help understand why. This only reinforces the dumb blonde stereotype. As a side-note, Alexis DelChiaro’s husband is Sean Marshall, a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs
N Korea is in the media a lot because of their recent nuclear weapons pursuit and in fact they have very few nuclear bombs (estimated at no more than one ot two) and even then it is not verified but merely assumed they may have a few at most (if they even have any at all). That compares to many 1000s both Russia and ther U.S. each have going back more than 60 years.
This is her bio from the Fox News 10 website: “FOX 10 AZAM Anchor. Alexis DelChiaro is a member of the FOX 10 morning team, co-anchoring “FOX 10 Arizona Morning” weekdays from 5am to 9am and “FOX 10 News @ Noon.” “I am so happy to be here in the Valley. It’s a pleasure to help you start your day,””said Alexis. Alexis brings a wealth of experience with her to the Valley; she’s been a news anchor, a weather anchor, reporter, sports reporter and news producer. She joins FOX 10 with years of experience in Yuma, Arizona and Santa Barbara, California. A graduate of the University of California in Santa Barbara, Alexis majored in communications and minored in Spanish. She actively volunteers her time to many Valley charities including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the American Cancer Society. Alexis enjoys trying out new restaurants, traveling to see friends and family, and spending time with her two dogs.” Copyright by Fox 10 News.

This would be funny but it’s also dangerous and scary. Fox is the most watched news provider and people will believe her. You know, voters.
Nice catch David.
Good comment Koberman.
Needless to say, the great Walter Cronkite (who sadly just passed away) could never display such a shocking lack of world knowledge!
I don’t watch Fox News TV Channel 10 (featuring news anchor Alexis DelChiaro) very often but when I do tune-in there seems to be some unusual or interesting stuff taking place.
For example, on this mornings show the news anchors were talking and in-effect joking (probably not in good taste) about a news report regarding a dentist who accidentally dropped dental tools down the throat of a patient (not once but on two separate occasions). First, involving a dental screwdriver and a second incident a year later with a small dental wrench being lost in the same patients throat.
The anchors went on to report in a subsequent lawsuit the elderly patients family alleged the medical procedures involved in removing the tools from the throat contributed to his passing away at age 90. At the end, Alexis chimed-in with her comment “there’s been nothing down my throat” which seemed quite humorous as far as the timing, who said it, and the way it was said.
On an the Aug 3rd Fox News show the news anchors were discussing the voyage of Christopher Columbus who set sail that day (August 3 1492). They talked about how he set sail from Spain on a long voyage that eventually led him to America.
It was asked if the anchors knew how many ships set sail that day on the voyage. Of course, there were 3 (now famous) ships, the Pinta, the Niña and the Santa María. However, when Alexis DelChiaro gave her answer she said “he had a bunch of ships.”
Of course, I realize not everone knows there were 3 ships, even though the 3 ship names are very well known and a much covered subject at school and in the media. A reasonable guess most folks would probably say (if they do not know the correct answer is 3) is a couple or several ships, or maybe saying 2 or 3, or 3 or 4 ships. Very few if any of us would likely say a bunch. A “bunch” is a “considerable” number according to the dictionary definition of the word and is obviously far more than just three.
In my opinion, Alexis Delchiaro needs to take some history and world event classes at Arizona State University or a community college as her knowledge on world events (both current and historical) is allegedly far behind her celebrity status as a high profile news anchor on a major TV network. hmmm…I wonder if Alexis DelChiaro’s husband Sean Marshall (who is a popular pitcher for the Chicago Cubs) would say a “bunch” or would he know about the 3 famous ships?
This post is picking on the esoteric knowledge of a morning show anchor. ‘Anonymous’, you have no guts hiding your name. She doesn’t anchor the evening news or anything and does a nice job with the morning show. She’s positive and friendly on the show. They usually deal with local news and events, cooking, and traffic on the morning show. Anyways, what does it matter the total number of nukes – if you have more than a few nukes you have a enough to ruin the world.
I think Alexis is great to watch in the morning. I’m just not into real serious news in the morning. Not only that, she is smoking hot, very personable and doesn’t take herself to serious. And on top of all that, she really needs me to give her a spanking.
I agreee, Alexis is very nice, pleasant, friendly and extremely attractive.
