How to Get Crisp, Hot & Healthy French Fries

Here is a little known food secret I have been using for years involving french-fry ordering at fast-food restaurants. We have all ordered fries only to have them arrive warn (rarely hot) and somewhat wilted and looking and tasting far from freshly cooked.

The secret is when you place your order always ask for unsalted fries. Since fast-food french-fries are prepared in large batches, are pre-salted and sit under a keep-warm lamp for sometimes a long time they will need to make your unsalted order fresh because they do not have already pre-cooked unsalted fries.

These are the benefits: Served hot, not warm or worse yet lukewarm. Freshly cooked and non-wilted. No salt added also means healthier eating (but if you like salt they have packages of salt you can add yourself). A reduced sodium diet is one of the health goals of our new health generation. Less time sitting around the restaurant kitchen also means less time for your food to possibly attract airborne bacteria and germs.

A minor negative to this fast food secret is you will need to wait a few extra minutes as your custom-ordered french fries are cooked. You can use that extra time to relax and help live a non-rushed lifestyle, which has other great health benefits and helps deal with stress.

Fox News TV Anchors’ Surprising Poor Knowledge

I always find it amazing how dumb some people in the media appear to be. You would think to be able to achieve a position as a TV co-anchor on a major city (the 5th largest city in the U.S.) TV News channel that person would require better than average general intelligence plus more than average knowledge of current events and recent world history.

Was watching Fox News (Channel 10) and the three news anchors were discussing nuclear weapons and guessing which nations have the most nuclear bombs since North Korea and their long-range missile testing was in the news this week. The two obvious answers of course are either the U.S. or Russia, with China probably 3rd on the short list. However, news desk co-anchor Alexis DelChiaro volunteered in her opinion it was North Korea who had the most. How unknowledgable can Alexis be!

How stupid is that answer from a Fox News co-anchor? How did Alexis manage to get that excellent job in the first place? So many smart people are unemployed due to the economy but “Alexis DelChiaro” is somehow a Fox news anchor. She must have impressed someone a lot during the interview. Look at her incredible good looks in the photo below to help understand why. This only reinforces the dumb blonde stereotype. As a side-note, Alexis DelChiaro’s husband is Sean Marshall, a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs

N Korea is in the media a lot because of their recent nuclear weapons pursuit and in fact they have very few nuclear bombs (estimated at no more than one ot two) and even then it is not verified but merely assumed they may have a few at most (if they even have any at all). That compares to many 1000s both Russia and ther U.S. each have going back more than 60 years.

This is her bio from the Fox News 10 website: “FOX 10 AZAM Anchor. Alexis DelChiaro is a member of the FOX 10 morning team, co-anchoring “FOX 10 Arizona Morning” weekdays from 5am to 9am and “FOX 10 News @ Noon.” “I am so happy to be here in the Valley. It’s a pleasure to help you start your day,””said Alexis. Alexis brings a wealth of experience with her to the Valley; she’s been a news anchor, a weather anchor, reporter, sports reporter and news producer. She joins FOX 10 with years of experience in Yuma, Arizona and Santa Barbara, California. A graduate of the University of California in Santa Barbara, Alexis majored in communications and minored in Spanish. She actively volunteers her time to many Valley charities including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the American Cancer Society. Alexis enjoys trying out new restaurants, traveling to see friends and family, and spending time with her two dogs.” Copyright by Fox 10 News.

One more nice Nanny (Au Pair) I met in-person

It seems I have a talent for meeting Au Pairs (also known as a Nanny). Over the past several years I have met a number of them from places such as Lithuania, Sweden and France. I usually end-up meeting them wherever there is water, such as swimming pools and water fountains, where they hang-out with the kids. I love all Au Pairs and Nannies who always impress me as very nice, friendly, sweet, well spoken and educated.

Today I was at Kierland Commons Mall sitting by the fountain and had the luck of meeting another really nice “nanny” named Annette. She was from Gilbert AZ and one of the nicest, most pleasant and educated persons I had the pleasure of talking to, if only for a short time.

If Annette wants to join my Facebook page (icon on right sde of this page about half way down) she may see information and photos of the French Au Pair who joined my FB page after seeing her at the pool a few times last summer, and stay in touch wth myself. Laurie is back in Paris now but I suspect will be returning to the U.S. one day as she said how much she liked America.

Nothing Can Take The Place of Persistence

An old wall plaque of mine purchaed a long time ago along with several other inspirational plaques, combined with a posting I ran across on the web today reminded me about the major importance of persistence as far as achieving success goes in most any area of life.

Here is the quote: “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not, nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not, unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not, the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent” by Calvin Coolidge.

One Single Asset You Can Bank On 100%

I’ve been alive for over 5 decades. In all those 50+ years I’ve gone through every type of economic cycle possible including this current roller coaster ride. I’ve come to the realization that there is only one single asset you can bank on 100%, no matter how bad the economy is. This asset never ever ever loses its power nor its value. It is more valuable than gold, diamonds, oil, cash, real estate, and anything else in the world and no one can take it away from you nor diminish it’s worth.

This asset is called Knowledge. Even if tomorrow a meteor struck earth and we went back to a caveman lifestyle, those with Knowlege would quickly become the most valuable people to others and would rise to positions of power, authority and wealth.

So forget about the 20%, 20%, 20%, 20%, 20% investment strategy. That only splits the risk to your assets into little pieces that can still be taken from you or diminished into little or no value. Right now the best investment strategy is to invest in your mind and learn as much as you can about things you think other people will need or want in the worst case economic scenario. That strategy is an insurance policy that will never fail you and always be there for you just in case everything does fall apart.

The more things you know how to do the more valuable you are to the world. Wealth can be created and achieved by having ore Knowledge than anyone else, especially in specific areas. This is why I laugh watching pundits telling people to buy the market now, or buy gold now, or buy real estate now while it’s so cheap. Not that there is anything wrong in doing that, but those are all just sales pitches and nothing more. Invest in your brain and learn, learn, learn!

How much time do you spend currently each day learning new things? This is the question you really need to explore. For most people the answer is not even in minutes. Turn off watching TV for hours per day and read books hours per day, study information on the Internet, learn new skills, learn how to build something with your own hands, learn how to grow food, learn how to provide medical care, learn how to fix things. The list is a mile long how many things you can learn.

Knowledge is the best investment asset you can own and it will earn you the biggest ROI forever!

Miss California: The Wind Blew My Top-Off

The funniest thing I have heard in a long time was Miss California and Donald Trump on NBC Today Show this week where she said (with them both having a straight face) she was standing on a cliff in California when the wind blew her top-off (calling it a wardrobe malfunction too) and the photopgrapher snapped the photos at the same time. Please don’t misunderdatnd, I support both her stance and Donald Trump not firing her but still very funny.
